Our Story
Back in 2017, while I was attempting to earn a masters degree in clinical mental health counseling I had a very difficult time finding an internship. My coursework was done and this was the last piece I needed in order to graduate. I was worried that I wouldn't finish, so I started thinking about other options.
Out of the blue, I spotted an ad that our local metaphysical shop was for sale. So I started talking to the shopkeeper.
Most of my life I have been drawn to ways of helping people heal. I've been working with herbs and crystals since the late 90’s. I had completed a certificate in massage, and got my license In 2011, and had studied reiki with John Harvey & Lourdes Gray in that same time period. The shop seemed like a natural fit.
We were not able to come to a financial agreement on the shop, but now my gears were turning. How could I create a community based space centered around health and healing? As spring turned into summer, I continued looking for an internship and trying to figure out how to start my own business on a shoestring. In August of 2017, a few doors opened. I was able to secure two internships: one In a school, the other with a social worker In private practice. It looked Ike I was going to finish my degree after all.
Meanwhile, we paid a visit to a couple of local farmers markets. We found that there were folks selling crafts and food, but there were no full time wellness vendors. That September I incorporated Calcite and Comfrey and was accepted into two farmers markets that ran through the winter. We started at those markets with two salves and a few crystals.
In 2018 I earned my masters degree.
In the intervening years, our business has expanded both in terms of product offering as well as in physical reach. Check out our shop page here on the website we can also be found at markets and pop up fairs from the Monadnock Region to the Berkshires.
